There is a reason that Bluetspur was removed from the core and made a separate island on its own in the mist.
Lovecraftian horror is VERY different from Gothic horror and while Ravenloft has rules to support and control the effects of madness, The very strangeness of the Far Realms/Cthulhu is well beyond the ken of mortals who are aware of it that if becomes moreso for the unsuspecting denizens of the dread realms.
Any Far Realms type of encounters in Ravenloft are best suited for the Nightmare Lands and the Dramscapes where it is no less horrifying or maddening but at least the heroes can rationalize it better as a dream than as reality.
Coming from a setting where a vampire runs a country, tentacled dreams are saner than tentacled walls.
Besides, dreams are how Cthulhu touched the minds of men anyway...
